The Johnsonburg Community Center, Johnsonburg Public Library, and Community Education Center proudly hosted the exciting Remake Learning event “Paper and Pen Adventures”—a hands-on, creative experience designed to inspire young minds through the art of paper-making and storytelling on May 13th. This engaging event was made possible through a partnership with Domtar, a leader in sustainable paper production.
Children and their families gathered at the Johnsonburg Community Center and Johnsonburg Public Library for an afternoon filled with imagination and craft. Participants had the unique opportunity to learn directly from Domtar experts, Chuck Charney and Jen Smith, who guided the children through the fascinating process of creating paper from start to finish. Each child crafted their own individual sheet of handmade paper, taking home a personalized keepsake of their creative journey.
Following the paper-making activity, young storytellers were guided through the essentials of storytelling and creative writing. They collaborated to craft stories, sparking their creativity and love for literature. As a special bonus, the stories created during the event, currently housed at the library, will be featured in Johnsonburg’s future Mobile Library, making their voices a vital part of the community’s literary landscape.
This summer the CEC will be back in Johnsonburg for our Nature’s Lab Summer Camp! Check it out at: https://communityedcenter.com/discover-partnership/summer-youth-camps/
