Kate Brock
Executive Director
Kate Brock is the Executive Director of the Community Education Center of Elk & Cameron Counties (CEC), where she provides overall strategic leadership and management for the organization. She began at the CEC as the Director of Educational Services in 2011.
Prior to joining the CEC, Kate worked as a senior project coordinator and research assistant for the Central Pennsylvania Workforce Development Corporation, a 501c3 organization. She assisted in carrying out a needs assessment on community college services in a nine-county region, coordinated programs and research on at-risk youth programs and job training opportunities including the Workforce Investment Act and YouthBuild programs. Kate has also provided independent consulting to organizations around the state related to career education and industry and community partnerships. She was an AmeriCorps volunteer with the National Civilian Conservation Corps where she gained experience in community development with organizations across the country including the Boys and Girls Club, the National Park Service, and Habitat for Humanity. Kate holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Penn State University and Bachelor’s Degree in History and Art History from Bloomsburg University.
Jackie Herbstritt
Operations & Facilities Manager
Jackie Herbstritt has been with the CEC since 2002. She is currently the Operations & Facilities Manager where she is responsible for overseeing, planning and managing the daily operations including building logistics and maintenance, finance, technology support, marketing and on-going program implementation and support. She ensures the smooth operation and running of the CEC on a day to day basis. Prior to being promoted to Operations & Facilities Manager in 2013, Jackie was the Administrative Assistant for the CEC where she provided support through general office duties, data entry, finance, technical assistance, website maintenance, coordination of room schedules and preparation for classes and trainings.
Jackie holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and Marketing from Penn State and an Associate’s degree in Information Systems from the University of Pitt Bradford. She earned both of her degrees at the CEC and has several certificates in management and supervision.
Amy Goode
Program Manager
Amy Goode is the Program Manager who supports the CEC’s activities related to the business and education needs of the region. She oversees the DISCOVER Partnership, a business and education partnership in Elk and Cameron Counties. She is a liaison between schools, colleges, employers, industry associations and other community groups to pursue new partnerships to develop relevant training and education opportunities in the region.
Amy works with students and adults to help them find their career path and connect them with the right education partner or business to meet their career goals.
Amy holds an Associate Business Administration Degree from Penn State University.
Beth Malburg
Administrative Assistant
Beth Malburg is the daytime Administrative Assistant at the CEC. Beth has been with the CEC since 2014.
Beth is the first point of contact for the area residents inquiring about the CEC programs and services. She provides administrative support, such as prepare, edit, and maintain a variety of informational material, reports, documents, social media, schedules meetings, supports visitors, and handles information requests. Beth also prepares the classrooms for trainings, meetings, and courses, including the setup and technical support of the Interactive technology used in the college-credit courses offered at the CEC.
Beth is a 2002 graduate from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford where she earned her Associate of Science Degree in Information Systems and a Management certificate. Beth is one of hundreds of adult students to acquire her degree and certificates at the CEC through the Trade Readjustment Act program.
Anne Herzing
Part-Time Education Assistant
Anne Herzing is an Evening Administrative Assistant at the CEC. Evening duties include preparing classrooms for trainings, meetings, and courses, including the setup and technical support of the ITV (Interactive Television) technology used in the college-credit courses offered at the CEC; interacting with students and instructors; providing a support with programs offered through the CEC; and other general office assistance.
Anne holds a Master’s Degree of Science in Education from Duquesne University and numerous under-graduate credits through Gannon, Penn State, and Clarion Universities. Recently retired from the education system Anne worked for 41 years as a Secondary and Elementary Administrator as well as an elementary teacher.
