Educating & Inspiring Our Younger Generation
The DISCOVER Partnership continues to grow and flourish in Elk and Cameron County and we could not have done it without all our partners. Whether our students want to pursue higher education or head straight into the workforce, we support their pursuits. With the help of our local company and organization partners, we are keeping it local and helping students “discover” what the region has to offer.

DID YOU KNOW?
Over 50% of students claim that during the tour, they found a career that sparked their interest!
How You Can Get Involved
Company Tours
Opening your company doors through Career Cruises helps students and educators get a glimpse of the local job opportunities and employer expectations throughout the local region. Students learn the future trends in employment and what type of jobs are growing as they plan for their life after high school. These visits help reinforce the student’s confidence in their career choices and goals. Educators are able to connect their experience to lessons in their classroom and reinforce employability skills required in the workforce.
Mentoring
Many students do not have a clear picture of their future. Providing them opportunities to expand their network of connections can be an invaluable resource for students to explore opportunities, learn about required training and education, identify necessary skills and experience for certain fields, and seek options for hands-on experience through job shadowing, internships, and part time jobs/school to work opportunities.
Guest Speaker
Through our classroom presentations and career fair programs, you can showcase your company and career in the educational setting. This provides students the opportunity to connect directly with a career of interest or learn about a career they have not considered.
Mock Interviewer
When employers provide students the opportunity to practice preparing for a real world job interview, the students are transported outside their comfort zone and learn to communicate without technology. Students learn what employers are looking for when they interview a perspective employee and receive feedback as an opportunity for them to work on their skills and confidence.
