Imagine 11,000 basketballs shooting out of a doorway—that’s the visual scale of 11,000 cubic feet of water flowing through Kinzua Dam every second! On Thursday, June 12, 2025, our group had an exciting and educational trip to Kinzua Dam in Warren, PA, and it was truly worth the journey.
We are grateful to Autumn Rodden and Doug Helman for guiding us through the inner workings of the dam. Our tour began at the bridge overlooking the Allegheny Reservoir, offering stunning views of the water. We then descended nine flights into the dam’s interior and later ascended back up, during which we learned fascinating facts about the structure and its operations.
After exploring the dam, we visited the Big Bend Visitor Center located downstream, where campers enjoyed their time and learned even more about this impressive engineering feat.
It was an inspiring and memorable experience for all!
