Seneca Resources donates $12,000 to Community Education Center
Seneca Resources, the exploration and production segment of National Fuel Gas Company, has donated $12,000 to the Community Education Center for Elk and Cameron Counties (CEC) in support of their DISCOVER Partnership Programs. “We are very grateful for the support we have received from Seneca Resources, said Kate Brock, Executive Director. “This gift will support our career education programs which are offered to all schools throughout Elk and Cameron counties, along with our community STEM programs.”
The DISCOVER Partnership, spearheaded by the CEC, is a business and education partnership committed to creating programs that educate residents and young people about the career opportunities available in Elk and Cameron Counties. The partnership is aimed at helping students “DISCOVER” what the region has to offer and plans programs that form connections between students, local companies and communities.
According to CEC Program Manager, Amy Goode, “Through our programs and classroom presentations, students are introduced to the changing dynamics of the current workforce focusing on technical skills as the new currency. Students are taught how to assess their skills and interests; explore career choices; research post-secondary education and training; and make informed decisions when choosing their career path and creating a career plan. We look forward to connecting students to Seneca Resources and the various career opportunities they provide to our region”.
The Community Education Center of Elk and Cameron Counties (CEC) has been facilitating credit, non-credit and enrichment programming for local community members since 1991. Each year, over 2,100 enrollments in credit, non-credit and enrichment courses are made possible through the CEC’s offerings. More than 580 certification exams are delivered annually, and hundreds of meetings are hosted and/or facilitated at the CEC. To learn more, visit their website at http://www.communityedcenter.com
