Basic Sign Language

The Basic Sign Language class is a 6-week course designed to give participants a basic understanding of deaf culture, deaf devices, and classifications of deafness.

Beginning with the alphabet, students learn how to introduce themselves, sign where they live, and ask basic questions. Sign units include: small words and pronouns, family and relationship signs, signs for action and emotion, numbers, and food. Signs can be added or substituted depending on the signing needs of the class.

The instructor is an interpreter (45 years’ experience) and a sign language teacher (33 years’ experience), and has a heart for the Deaf.
